Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s dynamic duo, Jeremy Seewer and Glenn Coldenhoff, impressed in qualifying at the 10th FIM Motocross World Championship in Sumbawa, Indonesia. Seewer powered to a strong second-place finish, while Coldenhoff put in a thrilling late-race charge to qualify third. At the same time, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2’s Thibault Benistant made significant progress in the MX2 Championship race with a sensational second-place finish in MX2.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 riders faced a challenging day in Indonesia, as they tackled the tricky, fast-paced loamy Sumbawa circuit while dealing with sweltering hot temperatures and high humidity in the practice sessions and Qualifying Races.
 
In the MXGP Qualifier, both Seewer and Coldenhoff displayed incredible speed and aggression throughout the intense 20-minute sprint. Seewer qualified second after an exceptional pass on Ruben Fernandez, while Coldenhoff put in a stunning late-race charge to pass MXGP Championship leader Jorge Prado and Fernandez with three laps remaining, securing third place.
 
In MX2, Benistant overcame a challenging start to the day and powered his YZ250FM to second in qualifying after passing Kevin Horgmo in the opening lap.
 
At the same time, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2’s rookie, Rick Elzinga, who had never raced in Indonesia before, showcased his adaptability by quickly acclimating to the fast-paced and lengthy 1740-meter sand circuit. The Dutch rider achieved his best-ever finish in Timed Practice, securing the second-fastest time. However, the deep sand inside the start straight in the Qualifying Race made it challenging for Elzinga to fully utilize the power of his YZ250FM as he charged into turn one.
 
Exiting the first turn, Elzinga held the eighth position, while Jago Geerts was in ninth place after being squeezed by other riders down the start straight. The fast and challenging Sumbawa circuit proved difficult to overtake on, which resulted in most of the riders finishing in the same position they started in. Geerts managed to gain two spots after passing Elzinga and Camden McLellan, while Elzinga maintained ninth.
 
Heading into the MXGP of Sumbawa tomorrow, Benistant is now only 4 points behind the championship leader in the MX2 Championship Standings. Geerts holds his position in fifth place, while Elzinga has moved up to 12th.
 
In the MXGP Championship Standings, both Seewer and Coldenhoff remain in fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
