Young Riders Shine at Round 2 of the EMX Sparks race series at Pembrey MX

The latest round of the E-MX Sparks British Masters at Pembrey MX near Llanelli delivered an action-packed weekend, with thrilling performances across all classes. Over 90 competitors headed to the Pembrey MX motocross circuit, located at the home of Welsh motorsports, Pembrey Race Circuit. The dry sandy loamy conditions presented a challenge to our young competitors, but they demonstrated great determination and skill, making light work of the tough terrain. The competition was fierce, and the riders showcased their abilities on the challenging track. Here’s a breakdown of the key moments from each class:

12` E-Drive Balanced Bike 3-4 Class:

In the E-Drive Balanced Bike class for 3-4 year olds, Teddy Roberts delivered a standout performance, securing the maximum points with consistent lap times throughout the day. He was closely followed by Henri Lewis, who made an impressive first appearance in the EMX Sparks series, securing second place. Colby Dunstan rounded out the top three, showcasing strong riding skills to claim the final podium spot.

12` E-Drive Balanced Bike 3-5 Open Class

In the 12`E Drive Balance bike class, newcomer Harry Hughes impressed by challenging the current series leader, Toby Jones. Hughes secured the most points with six race wins, closely followed by Jones, who put in an excellent effort throughout the weekend. Seb Summerill, consistently finished in all races, rounding out the top three. These young riders competed fiercely, showing determination and skill in every race.

12.5` Oset Class 3-4 Class:

In the Oset 12.5 class for 3-4 year-olds, Ollie Smiley made the journey all the way from Scotland to dominate the field at Pembrey Circuit. Smiley’s strong performance saw him leading the class, consistently achieving top lap times. Cellan Rees also put in an impressive effort, securing fourth place and challenging for higher positions throughout the day. Ruben Grabham finished in fourth, maintaining a steady performance against tough competition.

12.5 Oset  Class 5-6  Class:

In the 12.5 Oest class for 5-6 year-olds, Reggie Davies had a stellar day, winning all 6 races. Davies’ dominance throughout the day allowed him to secure overall victory, showcasing both his skill and consistency. His performance was unmatched, solidifying his position as a top contender in the series.

16` E-Drive  Class 4-6 Class:

The E-Drive 16-year-old class saw Gunner Day securing the maximum points once again, demonstrating impressive consistency. Rafe Harwood provided strong competition, with the two riders frequently swapping positions as the day progressed. Brad Carless, son of EX motocross champions Shane Carless, also performed well, particularly in the latter stages of the races. Rex Jones stayed close to the front runners, adding to the intensity of the battles.

18 E-Drive Class 5-8 Class:

In the 18-year-old E-Drive class, Parker Herbert was outstanding, despite encountering some challenges on the track. He fought his way through the pack to secure five race wins . Milo Williams closely followed, finishing consistently in second place, while Mia Jones, who showed significant improvement throughout the weekend, took third place with strong, steady riding and a last race win.

18` E-Drive Class 9-12 Class:

The 9-12  18` E-Drive class was a thrilling showdown between Jake Carless and Barney Swambo. Both riders were tied on points after the final race, but Carless clinched the victory, securing the overall win ahead of Swambo. Jake Fairclough, making his debut to the world of racing, finished third, marking a strong start in this competitive class.

18`+ Oset Class :

Cadi Bradshaw made an impressive debut in the 18-inch Oset class, dominating the field with six race wins. Her performance set the tone in this class, establishing herself as a strong competitor to watch in future events.

E-Mini 4-7 Class :

In the E-Mini class, Charlie Needs looked set to continue his momentum from Round 1, initially taking the lead ahead of Grayson Blake-Martin. However, Blake-Martin made decisive moves to secure the win in the next races. Cooper Dunstan finished second in several races, while Needs ended up in third. Parker Herbert also made a notable push towards the end, showing his potential.

E3 MX Auto 4-7 Class:

The E3 MX Auto class was one of the most competitive of the weekend, with Kaylum Clarke emerging victorious and extending his series lead. Clarkes  consistent performance was matched by Gethin Walker, one of the most improved riders from Round 1. Walker secured another successful finish, alongside Hunter Dunstan. Newcomer Archie Gill made an impressive debut, securing a solid finish in Race 4.

E5 MX Auto 5-8  Class:

Oakley Jones stood out in the E5 MX Auto class, securing six race wins and edging out Noel Brown in some thrilling battles. Despite a slip in Race 4, Jones quickly recovered to reclaim the lead from Brown. Both riders showcased impressive motocross skills. Carson Robinson had a strong day in third , while Oakley Seldon finished fourth overall

E65 MX 7-11 Class:

Frank Wallis once again dominated the E65 MX class, leading from start to finish and securing maximum points. Nicola Lange and newcomer Eddie Reid also put in strong performances, with Reid making a notable debut. Ortus  Alexander Simons, although facing some challenges, showed promise by participating in only two classes, and he continues to learn and improve with each event.

PW50cc 4-7 Class:

In the PW50cc class, Matthew Engwright was dominant, winning 5 out of 6 races. Russell Swambo consistently challenged Engwright but had to settle for second place. Ethan Thomas also performed well, finishing third despite some late-race incidents whilst in the lead. Logan Caplan, who finished just behind, is currently leading the series standings in this class going in to round three.

As the weekend showed, the E-MX Sparks British Masters continues to bring out the best in its competitors. The next round will take place at Monster Mountain near Merthyr Tydfil on September 7th and 8th. For more information about the series, visit www.emxsparks.co.uk.
