Get ready for a motocross weekend like no other, as the historic circuit of Farleigh Castle is gearing up to host the highly anticipated OG Farleigh Castle Vets MX event on its traditional September date – 12th to the 15th. With an action-packed weekend featuring a line of ten classes and an impressive 60 x two-strokes on the starting line for each race, this action-packed event is a motocross fans’ dream come true.
It’s not just the thrilling races that set this event apart; it’s the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and familiar faces in the motocross community while soaking up the atmosphere of old-school racing at its finest. And hold on tight because returning to the event to join the fray is none other than Team BOFP (formerly International Air Hammer). The team race has always been a highlight of the race schedule, and this year, it promises to be a barnstormer.
The team manager is Nick Saunby, and he has the unenviable job of keeping the Irish squad in line over the weekend, captained by the ever-green Rory O’Neill, who has been an industry insider in the American SX and Outdoor series for years since he moved over there, though he’s Irish and lives in America – his heart is well and truly at Farleigh Castle. He will be trying to keep a blue 1986 GM 250 Maico running over the weekend carrying the famous 111 plate.
Matt Halpin joins the squad and is a serious contender on his 1986 Yamaha YZ 490 with the number 110 plate alongside Lee Jackson on another ring-a ding air-cooled Yamaha WR 500 1992 model on the number 112 machine.
This is another strong international squad that will be bang up for it when the gate drops on September 14th at the iconic Somerset circuit.
Step back in time and experience the nostalgic charm of motocross at its finest during the Farleigh Castle Vets MX event. This family-friendly weekend has captured the hearts of motocross fans of all ages for over a decade. It’s been a staple fixture on the British Motocross calendar enjoyed by many a rider and fan over the years, and with the change in management for 2024, it is expected to return to its former glory. Prepare for some good old-fashioned bar banging and motocross camaraderie as riders from near and far gather at Farleigh Castle Vets MX from the 12th to the 15th of September.
This year’s event has already gathered renowned interest from sponsors both inside and outside the industry, including high-street retailers The Range / Wilko. They will also be on-site with a pop-up shop with everything you need or want over the course of the event, alongside the all-new catering offering supplied by The Sweet Potato Spirit Co.
