Not the news any rider wishes to post but sadly we won’t see British rider Josh Gilbert line up this weekend at Matterley Basin for his home GP round due to a virus.

Here is what Josh posted on his social media this morning:

Gutted to say I’m having to sit out Matterley Basin, MXGP this weekend due to being diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus. After really struggling for energy at the British I went for a blood test which confirmed the virus. It’s been a tough call, but health has to come first. This race means a lot to me, and missing it really stings—especially with it being on home soil. Now time to focus on recovery and coming back stronger. Thanks to everyone behind me!
