Bike thefts are on the up at the moment across the country and the organisers of Dursley MX have released the below statement this morning advising that trackers are being used so please read and be vigilant!
WARNING BE VIGILANT
We are aware of a 65cc that was stolen last night from a rider who attended our event and we are also aware that some riders had trackers put on their vans over the weekend and one actually had a drone hover over them as they got home which made them scan the van and find a magnetic AirTag tracker.
Please be vigilant at any MX events you attend as the scum out there are amongst us.
Cotswold had undesirable people wondering around and a bike was stolen from foxhills the weekend these people are targeting all MX events, we can put security on the gates and in the pits to help deter things being stolen on the day but with hundreds and hundreds of people walking about events we can’t stop trackers being slipped onto vehicles.
What we would encourage is that every one scans their vehicles for trackers now and if anything is found take it to the local police station ( wear gloves to save any DNA ) also scan your van before you leave any MX event to try and eliminate the risk.
iPhones will tell you if an AirTag is travelling with you and there are scanner apps you can download.
Please stay vigilant we live in a very sad lawless society at the minute and it rips the hearts out of those who are victims.
We had 8 Surron bikes stolen a few weeks back which we won’t recover from, all we can do is try and help each other be vigilant.
Sad times.
