Roczen, Laengenfelder and Spies ready for Ironman!

  • Confidence in the German team for strong results
  • Excitement ahead of Ironman Raceway
  • Large fan base expected

Strong foundations

Success at the MXoN requires many factors to come together. Shortly before the race, however, the German trio looks well-prepared: MX2 World Champion Simon Längenfelder arrives with strong momentum, Ken Roczen competes in his adopted homeland USA after a recent and successful comeback from injury, and Maximilian Spies brings extra motivation for his MXoN debut, having flown in his race bikes from Europe.

“As World Champion, it feels good to arrive with the pressure of the season behind me. With our team, we have good chances, especially as some nations already have to rely on reserve riders,” explained Längenfelder.

Roczen also sees his dual citizenship as an advantage: “For me, this is not a conflict of interest. It will be great to be cheered on by both European and American fans. I think we’ll have a fantastic event with many fans and put on a good show,” he said optimistically.

Spies, who has been preparing in Florida since a few days, is impressed by the U.S. tracks: “I immediately fell in love with them and was able to surprise people with my lap times. For me, the MXoN participation is a dream come true. Riding in one team with Ken and Simon is a huge honor. I will give everything to support the team in the best possible way,” he emphasized.

Expectations and goals

Germany last won the MXoN in 2012 with Roczen, Max Nagl, and Marcus Schiffer. While the current lineup shows similarities, predictions remain difficult. “I haven’t raced much motocross this year, but I know I’m still fast. As a team, we can perform very well,” said Roczen.

Längenfelder has clear ambitions: “I want to deliver a strong qualifying race against the 250 riders. For Sunday, I’m aiming for good starts on the long start straights – finishing in the top three in my class is my goal”.
