The 2026 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship reaches its climax this Sunday as the series rolls into the sandy banks of Blaxhall for the eighth and final round. With more than 130 riders entered across all three classes, it is one of the strongest line-ups of the season, and a fitting stage for a finale that still has championships to settle.
The size of the entry means riders must first battle through qualifying just to earn a place on the start line, adding another layer of intensity to an action-packed day. The line-up includes more than 20 British Champions, with former title holders Cas Valk, Evgeny Bobryshev and Elliott Banks-Browne all set to return as wildcard entries.
“The entries for this weekend are really strong and are a testament to the hard work that goes on behind the scenes,” said Series Director Paul Irwin. “It’s great to see so many riders wanting to race the British Championship again. I’m looking forward to seeing what Blaxhall has in store for us!”
Apico MX1: The Title Hangs in the Balance
All eyes will be on Apico MX1, where the title will be decided in front of the Blaxhall crowd. Series leader Conrad Mewse arrives on 315 points with the chance to seal the 2026 crown. Gabriel SS24 KTM’s Oriol Oliver sits second on 289, 26 points behind, although his participation at Blaxhall has yet to be officially confirmed.
Dirt Store Triumph’s Ben Watson is third on 276, 39 points adrift and still holding a mathematical shot at the title. Watson needs maximum points from the final two races to keep his hopes alive. If he takes both race wins, Mewse would need to finish no worse than DNF-7 to bring the crown home.
Behind the title contenders, DRT Kawasaki’s Taylor Hammal holds fourth on 209, ahead of Tristan Purdon on 199 and Tom Grimshaw on 168. Adding star power to an already fierce class, former MXGP race winner and British Champion Evgeny Bobryshev is confirmed to line up. Every start, every lap and every position could prove decisive.
MX2: Champion Crowned, Podium Places Wide Open
SC Sportshomes Husqvarna’s Heyman wrapped up the MX2 title with a round to spare on 298 points, with Doensen locked into second on 243. The fight for third is anything but settled. Ben Mustoe holds the position on 205, just five points clear of Tommy Searle on 200, while Joe Brookes and Billy Askew are tied for fifth on 185 apiece.
Former champions and race winners Cas Valk and Elliott Banks-Browne are both entered and could easily gatecrash the fight at the sharp end. The class also welcomes a notable debutant: newly crowned RFX 125cc Champion Drew Stock makes his MX2 British Championship debut aboard the JK Yamaha.
JMR Under 21: Heyman vs Doensen
The JMR Under 21 Championship also goes to the final round as a two-rider battle. Newly crowned MX2 Champion Charlie Heyman leads on 303 points, with Dutch rider Gyan Doensen 42 points back on 261. It is a tall order for Doensen, but with a maximum haul still available, the door isn’t quite closed, and he will be doing everything he can to keep the pressure on.
RFX 125cc: The Race for Runner-Up
Track action begins at 8:45 am with RFX 125cc qualifying. JK Racing’s Drew Stock has the title secured on 323 points, but the battle behind him is one of the closest of the weekend. Joel Winstanley-Dawson holds second on 226, with Harley Marczak just four points back on 222, a gap that could change hands in a single moto. Archie Stapley is fourth on 198, Hayden Statt fifth on 188 and Lucas Moncrieff sixth on 185, although Moncrieff moves up to the MX2 class for the final round. With just over 40 points separating second from sixth, every position is still live.
