NEIL HAWKER TAKES ON BRITISH ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER ROLE

Hi Everyone,
It’s great to announce my new role to manage the British Enduro Championship.
I have a huge passion in Offroad motorcycling and I am excited to see the BEC grow.
My professional background is from 13 years in the British Army then once I left I worked on the production team within the Red Bull Pro National Motocross series, the UK Arenacross series and high profile events like the Goodwood Festival Of Speed then, moving onto my current roles working as an Offroad motorcycle coach With Offroadskills BMW, on the Bikeworld tv show crew and the Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service as a firefighter.
Enduro has always been in my life, having racked up over 10 years of British Enduro championship seasons as a rider, an event secretary of the Natterjack and building tests. I have ridden 11 Scottish Six Day trials, multiple ISDE’s and The Dakar Rally, I feel now I’d like to give back to the sport and help the BEC grow.

My responsibilities will include ensuring standardisation throughout the series, rider and team liaison, working alongside the organising clubs and sourcing new venues and sponsors.

I am under no illusions that there are a lot of things to change but things don’t change over night and we have clubs with highly skilled and passionate people doing a great job for our sport but we also need your help.
Clubs need volunteers to help set-up, run, and tear down events, but most of all, when they put all this effort in, they need you to enter early and support the series.
Nothing motivates organisers more than seeing a good number looking to attend, and a full entry means we can go the extra mile when it comes to paying for track markers, diesel for a machine or awards for riders and extra payments to keep a landowner happy.
We have changed a few things for the 2023 season starting by bringing the classes in-line with the ISDE classes and World Enduros, promoting the youth of the sport by adding a youth 125cc class and individual class sponsors. I will liaise with clubs to make sure we are not trying to re-invent the wheel but make amazing events for all levels and showcase our sport at the highest national level.

Thank you and good luck for 2023!

Riders wishing to participate in the championship should register on the ACU website which will be opening very soon.

Cheers Neil
